Customize Your Blade’s Color

Why settle for one when you could have a rainbow?

Select Your Saber Configuration

Changing the Default Color of a Sound Font

Every sound font is assigned a default color & blade profile. Even if you manually change the blade color in the Spectrum menu, next time you enter the sound font selection menu it will automatically revert to that sound font's default blade color & profile.

Connect your saber’s Micro SD Card to a computer. See Accessing the Micro SD Card for more details >

Before you continue, make sure you create an unaltered local backup of the Micro SD Card.

Open ‘1-SABERTRIO’ and then open the ‘fontconfig.txt’ file with a text editor. This Sound Font is only being used as an example, and this process works the same for all.

Next find and open the 'font_config.txt' file inside with a text editor.

Change the ‘start_color’ parameter to the value (1-16) of the blade color you want. Save changes and exit the text editor. You can find more info on what all the parameters do in the Crystal Focus Saver Core User’s manual PDF inside your Saber’s micro SD card, in the extra > Manual folder, or from Plecter Lab’s website.

CFX - Color Profiles

The Sabertrio CFX Preconfiguration has 16 color profiles based on the values listed below, all specially optimized for Sabertrio Neo Blades.

The Neo Blade’s color is produced via 3-channel RGB (Red, Green & Blue) LEDs. While the board inside the saber does support a 4th white channel, its value is left at 0 since the Neo Blade’s LEDs don’t have a 4th channel.

All four fields (RGBW) are represented with values ranging from 0 (off) to 1023 (max brightness).

For example, you can read the code for the color profile for Yellow (3) like so:

  • Red = 1023 (Max)
  • Green = 750 (73% Brightness)
  • Blue = 0 (Off)
  • White = 0 (Off)

Every color profile and their value can be found in the color.txt file in the root directory of your saber’s micro SD card.

Keep in mind that tweaking the parameters of any color profile will change the default blade color of all sound fonts that use that particular color profile.

The ‘color’ parameter is likely the only one you will alter, but for everything else check out Advanced Color Customization.

Once you’ve made your changes, save & close the text editor.

With the blade’s tip pointed towards the floor, remove the dust cap. This blade contains a sheet of diffusion film that is loose to allow for greater flexibility while dueling.

(!) If the diffusion film slides out, roll it tight enough so it can slide back in with no resistance. Then unroll the sheet while inside the blade until it is firmly pressed against the inner walls.

Slide the blade into the emitter and firmly hold it in place.

(!) If the blade does not slide in fully, the retention screw may be obstructing it. Remove the blade, use the provided allen key to loosen the screw and retry.

Tighten the blade retention screw gradually, testing its security by ensuring the blade cannot rotate.

Do not overtighten as that may damage the blade and the retention screw.

To remove, hold the saber upright and loosen the blade retention screw until the blade easily slides out.

(!) The LEDs in the hilt are categorized as a class 2 laser and can damage your eyes when lit without the blade inserted. We recommend getting a Blade Plug to safely diffuse the LEDs while the blade is removed for travel, storage or display.
