Glowstick 3000

There once was a certain genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist who was best known for building and donning technologically advanced suits of armor. With his inventive brilliance and relentless drive, he was constantly overcoming failure and weaknesses in each armor iteration that ultimately culminated with the utilization of AI and nanotech. In the face of ever stronger adversaries, we imagined the possibility that of all the new weaponry being developed, there surely would have been the idea of fabricating an arc reactor-powered energy sword.

This piece takes the form of a Vektra, the engine-inspired ends matching his jet-like aesthetic. Its design starts at the emitter, featuring an MK50 reactor framed by intricate armor contours, a design that is replicated onto the Covertec band. The switch section features a staggered wavy texture that perfectly frames all the elements of that area. And at the center of the hilt, the main grip is encased in alternating ridges, arranged to mimic the armor’s iconic look.

With all the intricacies acid-etched permanently into the metal, we painstakingly spot powder coated the Vektra in a combination of hotrod red and satin gold, while accenting certain areas in raw aluminum. We then applied layers of matte clear coat to give this energy sword a finish that really resembles the MK50. For the final touch, this hilt was given a silver activation switch and Covertec wheel, along with a satin gold control box.

And finally, we have designed a matching saber workbench, while also creating an exclusive sound font and OLED animation to truly make this a much more immersive experience.

Being known not only for his penchant in pushing scientific limits, but also for his charismatic personality and sharp humour has led us to imagine that had this energy sword truly existed, it would have been given the name “Glowstick 3000”. This saber and its matching custom saber workbench will be available separately in the May the 4th RTS Event, starting at 9am EDT.
