Cal Kestis-inspired custom neopixel red lightsaber features weathered monochrome finish, droid motifs and calligraphed Aurebesh

With a level of creative freedom rarely seen in the franchise, Star Wars: Visions dares to redraw the galaxy far, far away. Across three seasons of self-contained short films, it has become an anthology of wildly different stories—told in shifting art styles and moods.

Among all these, “The Duel” and its sequel truly stand apart. Together, they unfold in a stark black-and-white palette, with rough sketch-line textures and Kurosawa-inspired cinematography. This stripped-back aesthetic trades spectacle for atmosphere and sharp tension, framing a “simple” wanderer and the crimson blade at his side. Known for collecting red kyber crystals from former comrades he’s cut down, the Ronin keeps them not as trophies, but as reminders of the path he once walked.

This is the lightsaber we imagine him building around one of those crystals. Given his fighting style, the Senza felt like the natural choice—a saber hilt with a large main grip section and streamlined silhouette.

We approached the design by applying the same visual principles from the short films. The entire piece adopts the signature monochrome look, laced with highly intricate engraved details across the saber hilt. From calligraphed Aurebesh at the choke to droid-panel motifs drawn from his trusty companion to combat scuffs along the emitter shroud, each element quietly reinforces who this lightsaber belongs to.

And to truly mimic the artistic style of “The Duel”, this weapon has undergone the most complex weathering process we’ve ever attempted. Multiple rounds of sanding, hand-stippled painting, controlled chemical reactions, spot powder coating, acid etching, and clear coats all work together to break up the surfaces, deepen the shadows, and give the metal that gritty, hand-drawn quality—as if it were pulled straight out of the short film.

This lightsaber is called “Kizuzane (傷実)”—loosely translating to Scarred Legacy—a name that speaks not only of the wounds shared by blade and wanderer, but to the price of turning away from a former allegiance.

This Legendary Saber will be available for purchase on Black Friday, November 28th, at 9:00 AM EST.
