Loud and In Your Face

One thing for certain is that working on a Masterpiece is never ever mundane. Every project just feels completely different in almost every aspect ranging from our interactions and design concepts, all the way to the level of creative freedom that we are given.

There are times where owners explicitly knows what they want, and all our efforts are channeled into nailing every single detail. Others, we're just given a general theme and then left to work our magic. The showcase today represents the latter.

The instructions were simple; do something "loud and in your face". While initially the creative freedom given may sound like a dream, it is actually quite the contrary. For such a broad theme, deciding on just exactly what to create became the biggest challenge for this project. Most definitely, we wanted to ensure that ALL Masterpieces were unique but at the same time, it also had to make sense and hopefully, remain within the Star Wars premise.

After much research and discussions amongst ourselves, we ultimately came up with a motif concept that represented a blend between dazzle camouflage and the grip patterns of the dark saber. With sweeping bold lines and irregularly placed elements, we hoped that this design was sufficient loud...and true enough, we had the owner's approval.

This Vektra is definitely one of the most unusual pieces we have ever worked on and during the process, we certainly had our reservations of the end result. But today as we sit back and take in the final outcome, we can say for sure that this saber is truly a Masterpiece of contrast.
