The Cycle of Rebirth

In this week’s episode of acid etched masterpieces, we are showcasing the “Rebirth saber”; a piece that was designed to represent reincarnation.

Our designers have managed to translate the overall concept and capture all key elements that the owner had requested for. Having chosen the Vahlken has allowed us to work with a broader canvas.

Let us begin by analyzing this saber from top to bottom. Starting at the emitter section, we find two emblems placed on opposite sides and are derived from Megaman Star Force which happens to be the owner’s favorite game. The emblem’s sharp edges against the Vahlken’s multi facets gives the top segment a truly dynamic appearance.

Continuing the Japanese influence, the switch area prominently features a lotus flowers surrounding the auxiliary switch while being flanked by cherry blossoms on both sides. What makes this truly special is that the cherry blossoms were actually hand-drawn by the owner himself and we traced it meticulously to have it etched.

Moving past the switch area, we reach to what is considered the essence of the design. In Aurebesh, etched across the circumference of the Vahlken’s mid ring reads “It's when you are at your lowest point that you are open to the greatest changes".

And this brings us to the largest section of the saber which is the handle, where we find a creature that is most synonymous with reincarnations, the Phoenix. Here, we find the emblem from the Saint Seiya series, and truly we believe that there are no other better representation than this to symbolize rebirth.

We bring the etching design journey to an end with a myriad of Star Force symbols etched on each individual block of the Vahlken’s pommel, which in return balances off the design perfectly.

This project has definitely been a pleasure to work on and we hope that this masterpiece will truly bring joy to its owner. We hope it will also serve as a poignant reminder to him to stay strong, even during the most challenging of times.
