The Ebonova
The is Ebonova – a Masterpiece Vektra and the personal lightsaber of Elizabeth who is a member of Sabertrio’s official cosplay group.
Like most of the team, her outfit was fully designed by us, and this particular one was rather challenging because it featured several defined armor pieces. Being an Inquisitor, we wanted Elizabeth to have an imposing presence, and we achieved this through extensive use of EVA foam to form the hard structure of her costume. Once the shape was made, we airbrushed each piece several times that resulted in a smooth matte black surface that emphasized the several red accent LEDs dotted across her outfit. All these were ultimately attached to her black bodysuit that had front and rear drapes, for a more dramatic appearance.
Elizabeth’s lightsaber design was very much derived from her armor, and elements repeatedly found on Inquisitorius equipment. Starting at the emitter frame on both sides were the iconic twin stripes framed by a diamond-like outline that resembles the subtle detailing of her breastplate. Descending to the switch section, we began transitioning the black surfaces into exposed aluminum, while continuing the armor’s contour details. From there, imperial filigrees were placed all over the main grip section, emphasizing that familiar design as seen on most lightsabers used by Inquisitors. It was then complimented with a silver Covertec wheel that stood in contrast to the black Neo activation switch.
All of the intricate designs were carefully reverse acid-etched permanently onto the Vektra. With the masking decals still on, we then subjected the hilt through another chemical process that blackened the exposed areas and thus amplifying all of the details for a beautiful black & white effect. Finally, we powder coated the Vektra’s emitter frame and lower band in crimson to establish a strong resemblance with Elizabeth’s outfit that had red inner linings on its drapes and gloves.
When combined, Ebonova becomes a truly deadly weapon of an Inquisitor that would strike fear into the hearts of any Jedi on the run. This saber will be available for purchase at the Sabertrio May the 4th RTS event, starting at 9am EDT.
