The Ghost of Sparta

Today, we present our second MASTERPIECE by Sabertrio spotlight for this round, and it is a commission that took us to the mythical realm of the celestials – both Greek and Nordic – where we forged a piece inspired by the pantheon-slaying Kratos.
The client presented us with a detailed vision, and thoughtfully walked us through every element he wanted etched into his bespoke Senza. It was obvious from the start that the God of War franchise was deeply meaningful to him, and our team was determined to capture that passion.
Our design journey began on the classic shrouds where we placed our rendition of the runes carved into the Leviathan Axe on one prong, while on the other a line of Elder Futhark. Next, we gave the main section of each shroud their own letters – Λ (Lambda) and Ω (Omega) – which symbolize the Spartan region of Laconia and “The End” respectively. Each is enclosed within a circular meander, and together they paint a picture of a true son of Sparta who has brought countless foes to their definitive end.
Further down, for both the switch and Covertec band, we crafted dual outward-facing dragons joined at their tails by a Celtic knot. We imagine that these fierce fabled serpents represent two lives inextricably linked, much like Kratos’ connection to his son Atreus.
With the etchings immortalized into the metal, we gave the main segments of this hilt a mirrored finish to lend it the visage of a well-polished weapon. For its accents, the framed letters and Elder Futhark on the shrouds were carefully filled in with red acrylic paint, while various rings across this hilt were powder coated in blood red. This piece was finally completed by installing a black control box with a red filter, alongside a gold activation switch with matching screws and Covertec wheel.
The cooperative partnership between client and our designers is what makes these sabers so special, and here it resulted in a hilt that we are proud to call a Masterpiece. We hope that the wielder of this blade will never be a pawn to the gods, and that it might be used to defend what he truly loves.
