The Gilded Relic

MASTERPIECE by Sabertrio is the ultimate expression of oneself. It is the chance to craft a saber that truly represents who you are and be completely one-of-a-kind. Today, we turn the spotlight on a very special Korvus – one created through a collaboration between our designers and the saber’s owner who has been a longtime supporter of Sabertrio.

As with all masterpieces, the creation journey for each one is always unique. In this round, the client envisioned his Korvus to be a weapon of a Jedi master. To emphasize the experience and hardship that it has gone through, the entire saber should be covered in intricate details and feature an aged appearance that represents the many battles it had survived. There should also be some accent colors on it for contrast, and the rest was left in the good hands of the design team.

To bring this concept to life, we specially designed an elaborate motif just for this saber. It was composed of two different elements - one organic where beautiful curved vines meandered through the entire hilt, while the other a construct with well defined geometry patterns of ancient technology. These two elements were made to seamlessly intermingle as it gracefully framed and accentuated all the design features of the Korvus.

With the etching done, we then applied a chemical solution to the hilt to darken the etched surfaces while aging all exposed aluminum. This created an elegantly aged weathering effect that was meticulously handled to ensure ALL pieces were consistent in color and tone. Finally, certain parts of the hilt were powder coated in matte gold, and it was meant to match the hue of the golden screws found all across the saber.

The final outcome is a beautifully well-balanced design that in our opinion, truly brought out the best of the Korvus. And for all that, we are absolutely confident to call this a MASTERPIECE by Sabertrio. It has been an amazing journey crafting this elegant weapon, and we hope that this lightsaber would be cherished by its owner.
