Pod racer engine-inspired custom neopixel lightsaber with a Darth Maul-inspired custom design

From the blood-red world of Dathomir to the throne of Mandalore, few figures in galactic history have cast a shadow quite like Maul. Even after being struck down on Naboo, he endured, re-emerging as something far more sinister than before.

We have always been huge fans of this menacing Zabrak, and with the premier of that highly anticipated animated series, it felt only fitting to craft a custom saberstaff in his honor.

The Vektra, known for its streamlined profile, was our chosen canvas — one upon which we seamlessly applied splattered ink elements derived from the very tattoos of Maul’s visage. Woven into these organic patterns are geometric motifs inspired by his mechanical augmentations, bringing visual balance to both ends of the saberstaff and converging at the intricate coupler at its center.

This level of detail carries through to the main grip sections of both sabers, where an ornate texture reminiscent of the backdrop to his Mandalore throne is meticulously etched into the metal. The result is not only a visual feast, but also a tactile surface that provides a confident, secure grip.

The entire saberstaff is then powder coated in a cold, steel-tinted hue, mirroring the stark presence of his cybernetic legs. Set against this icy finish, the patterns described above are subjected to a chemical darkening process that deepens the detailing to an almost blackened tone, creating a bold and deliberate contrast across the hilt. Red accents are then introduced at key segments of the saberstaff as a clear homage to Maul, accompanied by a matching red activation switch that further reinforces the design intent. At the emitter, a larger red thumbscrew offers a subtle nod to Maul’s original lightsaber, while the bronze-gold tip echoes the crown of horns that defines his unmistakable silhouette.

Consumed by his desire for revenge, Maul became something far more than a fallen Sith, and it is from this same dark intensity that this saberstaff has taken on the name “Kaga Naghi”, which means Shadow Demon in Paecean.
