The Legend of Wukong

It's been a while since our last showcase but with the March 25th Reopening Event offering 50 custom acid etch slots, lets explore some of the amazing masterpieces that we've had the privilege of working on for the past few months.

Sun Wukong, also known as The Monkey King, is a legendary mythical figure of great power. He is best known from the 16th-century Chinese novel entitled 'Journey to the West' and is also the main protagonist for the upcoming video game named Black Myth: Wukong. Our mission was simple; to craft a saber that befits the Monkey King himself.

With it's define edges and all around etchable surfaces, the Vahlken was no doubt the most ideal Sabertrio hilt for the task. Taking direct inspiration from the Monkey King's pauldrons in Black Myth; Wukong, we etched the swivel vines all over emitter and bottom most portion of the saber. This creates an overall design balance that frames the main grip section of the hilt. Wrapping around the five segments is the legendary Chinese Dragon amongst the swirly clouds; all frozen in place through this intricate etching, for eternity.

Directly above this are ten Hanzi seal script characters that were meticulously etched all around the mid band of the Vahlken. And finally, flanking the gold illuminated switch are ornate motifs that elegantly interconnects with the auxiliary switch to complete the overall acid etch design of this custom saber.

As a finishing touch, we had the hilt go through our 'V2' weathering process which ultimately gave it an ancient look that accentuated all the textures and details of the etching. We are extremely proud of how this saber turned out and can confidently say that it is truly a masterpiece.
