Cal Kestis-inspired custom neopixel lightsaber features Dune and House Atreides with weathered finish, gold accents, hawk and ornithopter motifs

In a certain visually mesmerizing saga, it was said that the fate of the universe was meticulously orchestrated by a powerful few. Yet true power was ultimately not found on a throne, but from a very peculiar substance only harvested on Arrakis. Indeed, “He who controls the spice, controls the universe.”

Inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary novels and its magnificent adaptation, we set out to create a saber that would personify the epic journey of the eventual Lisan al Gaib. The Senza was chosen for this undertaking, its sleek profile the perfect choice to reflect the brutal efficiency required of all who walk the desert. We began the design on the Ornate emitter shrouds, which served as a perfect canvas to embody the streamed silhouette of the iconic ornithopters.

Descending further, the switch band is cloaked in a quartet of red hawks, each gliding above the perilous desert and the titular title bestowed upon the harsh landscape by its enduring inhabitants. Finally, on the opposite side of the Covertec wheel, is the royal crest of that noble house – one that emerged from the ashes of devastation to wield unrelenting desert power.

With every line and curve immortalized through precise acid etching, we applied a rugged finish to give this saber the appearance of having been pulled out from the sands. We then imbued the control box in a spice-like hue, and created a bespoke OLED animation in a similar tone that is exclusive to this elegant weapon. As a final touch, we accented this intricate hilt with a gold activation switch and matching colored accessories.

Bringing this saber to life was no easy feat – the universe of Dune is vast, with so many elements that we could have used. But we did not fear, for fear is the design-killer. Just as Usul is the foundation of the pillar, this saber foreshadows the rise of the Lisan al Gaib, and will forever be known as the “Obelisk of Atreides”. It will be available in the Sabertrio March RTS drop that is happening in conjunction with the launch of the S3 x SO collaboration on March 23rd at 9am EDT.

We strongly advise against submerging this saber in sand as it is coarse, rough, and gets everywhere.
