Darth Vader-inspired custom neopixel green lightsaber features weathered finish, TIE fighter solar panel motifs and industrial girding

In the cold void of space, an Imperial Star Destroyer dominates the view, and out from its belly swarm a horde of eyeball-shaped craft like angry wasps. Those ships have a design that is so iconic, you only need to see the swift shadow or hear its screeching engine to know that a TIE Fighter is coming.

With that bit of nostalgia in our minds, we wanted to pay homage to that classic starship. It began with the Skylar, which was selected because of its two choke points flanking the switch area that allows for superior maneuverability – a fitting match for such a nimble craft. Next, we started the design by placing our rendition of the main viewport at the center of the emitter, framing it with panels that are reminiscent of solar energy collectors.

Just below that, we wrapped the switch and Covertec bands with industrial girding inspired by Imperial engineering. All of that was carefully reverse acid-etched into the metal, after which the hilt was weathered and precisely tarnished to give it the appearance of having flown many missions. Finally, this saber was completed with a red activation switch and a black Covertec wheel.

The visual language of sci-fi is often defined by a few memorable ships, and this saber is our tribute to one of the most franchise-defining starfighters to ever scream across the screen. And to adhere to that ship’s naming conventions, like ‘TIE/in’ for ‘TIE Interceptor’, we have christened this sleek hilt the ‘TIE/sbr’. It will be available in the Sabertrio July RTS Drop that is happening TOMORROW, July 27th at 9am EDT.
