The lore of Deathmark

As far as the eye could see, an endless, twisted wasteland stretched in every direction. Its features—lit only by flashes of green lightning—revealed jagged ridges and gaping cracks across a forsaken expanse. It wasn’t always like this; Malachor V once had vast oceans and beautiful, violet-hued, fertile lands teeming with life. But the battle that raged in orbit, and the unleashing of a certain weapon of mass destruction, ended all of that in a single breath.

The cataclysm that followed destroyed everything—but unearthed something even darker: an ancient Sith stronghold known as the Trayus Academy. In the years that followed, under the Sith Triumvirate, this corruptive bastion became an engine of the First Jedi Purge; its chambers turned Jedi captives into deadly Sith Assassins who then hunted their former brethren mercilessly.

For one such individual, the subversion was not mere indoctrination; it was a complete erasure—his name stripped, face hidden, voice trained to a whisper. Every trace of his old self was defaced, and under the heat of fanaticism, even his lightsaber followed.

Where once there was a pristine, gleaming silver finish, there are now ritualistic Sith runes, immortalized in the metal by acid and the harsh touch of time. Where once there were cleanly machined, anodized features, there are now worn extrusions whose edges already show the raw alloy beneath. Only its signature brass thin-neck remains to hint at its past—now tarnished not only by use, but by the Dark Side itself.

This is a true weapon of a Sith Assassin. No longer meant to protect, but to inflict maximum damage, pain, and suffering. And as such, this lightsaber has since been known only as the “Deathmark”.
