The lore of タオ遺産 Tao Isan

It was once said that “the legacy of the past is the foundation for the future”. These were words that resonated with much truth especially when confronted by Imperial oppression. Once an idyllic planet blessed with an abundance of resources, the world of Tao has since been lured by false promises into being heavily exploited by the Galactic Empire. Now, it faces an existential threat not only to its natural environment, but also to the traditions of its people.

With its back firmly against the wall, there was only one way out for the people of Tao, and that was to FIGHT. In today’s showcase, we set out to craft a very special custom saber that was symbolic of the world, faithful to its traditions and deadly to the trespassers. The Skylar was chosen to become this legacy.

Adorned at the top of the saber is in an intricate symmetrical design of waves flowing amongst the clouds, and together it represents the once unblemished beauty of Tao. The strong influence of tradition continues throughout the hilt where hexagonal outlines inlaid with the four petaled flower are found especially at the switch section and lower segment of the Skylar. And at the main handle are diamond-shaped engravings that collectively forms a tsumami-maki like design that not only showcases the heritage of this elegant weapon, but also enhances the grip of the saber. Situated on the exact opposite side of the Covertec wheel is the emblem of the Yasaburō clan which have since became the symbol of defiance for the people of Tao towards the Galactic Empire.

It is said that “legacy is not leaving something for people but rather leaving something IN people”. It is with this that we named this saber タオ遺産 "Tao-Isan", which translates to Legacy of Tao.
