The Lore of Rowan Sgàth

High above the mist-shrouded crags of the highlands lie ancient forests, whispered to be older than memory itself. Here, legends hang in the air like fog, and spirits of the past linger—drawn to those who dare tread these woods without honoring their kin of old.

For it is said that “protection is woven from the threads of ancestry, a shield held fast against meandering storms.” This became the guiding light for our artisans as we set forth to forge a lightsaber that is a relic of kinship… and a warning to any who mistake the past for something silent.

We chose the Vahlken as our canvas—its aggressive octagonal profile evoking a Celtic weapon that has been elegantly refined. Its gleaming emitter stands like a honed blade, crowned on either side with a Carrick mat—its upper loop destined to be completed by the ignition of the saber’s blade. Beneath it, a dotted trail runs across the emitter vents, guiding the eye downward to an emerging Bowen knot.

The main activation switch is flanked by intricate linear knotwork—a pattern echoed once more around the Covertec band, its interlacing flow symbolizing an unbreakable heraldic bond. The entire grip section is powder-coated in an earthen brown hue, reminiscent of the hardened hide of highland beasts. In striking contrast, a Celtic shield knot in brushed silver is etched onto the opposing side of the Covertec wheel—standing as the emblem of a steadfast guardian.

For the final touch, the hilt was weathered with deliberate care from switch band to pommel, taking on the appearance of a weapon that has endured countless battles.

This lightsaber serves as a bridge between the living present and the hallowed past. For that, it is called “Rowan Sgàth” — the first word named after the highlands’ eternal protector, and the second translating to either “shelter” or “dread”.

In the end, whether the ancients offer you their shield or wrath is simply a matter of choice: are you the guardian holding the light, or standing in its path?
